This week I created the block out of the first two shots in the fight scene and created six martial arts animations, four kicks, one punch, and one block.

After doing some research I decided to have main character in the scene use mostly a mixture of Muay Thai and Taekwondo. Then, to create some animations of moves from these martial arts, I used videos on YouTube as reference. I am going to get some feedback on these since I know very little about martial arts so next week I will be updating them with the feedback I receive.

I am not basing the fight scene off of any already made content. I am making this previs fight completely from scratch and creating my own references for the shots and the fight itself.

I spent sometime over this first week trying to figure out what I wanted the scenario of the fight to be and what I wanted to happen in it as I worked on the fight animations.

I decided to make the scene about a man waking up from a nightmare in the middle of the night. He then gets up to get some water and is suddenly attacked by a group of men. There is a sniper on the rooftop of the building across from him and there will be five men in the hall outside of his apartment who will break in that he will have to fight.

I still do not have a clear idea of exactly what will happen in every shot and will be finalizing the action as I experiment with my block out. I did make some storyboards of some moments that I will likely incorporate into the fight, so I do have something to work off of besides the premade martial arts animations I have made.

The only block out that I finished was for the first two shots of the scene when the man wakes up from his nightmare. I actually ended up spending a lot more time on the second shot then I really needed to for a block out, but I wanted to convey the emotion he is having in the scene.

For these shots I used a couple of camera rigs that I have been working on a handheld rig for shot 1 and a dolly rig for shot 2.

During the next week I am going to make sure that I do not get to focused on the little details of the scene and try to get the most basic block out of the sequence that I possibly can. I might create more martial arts animations if I need them but right now I am just going to focus on utilizing the ones I have already made.
